Archaeology and Monuments
Line C is unique for the enormous historic and monumental value of the areas it traverses. Therefore, it was necessary to deal with and resolve a set of particular and unique aspects, whose technical solutions and modes of execution required a “dedicated and specialised” design methodology.
Collaboration between the Municipality of Rome, the Customer Roma Metropolitane, Metro C, and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities resulted in an organised survey programme.
The broad survey programme, agreed upon with the Municipality of Rome and the Superintendency for Archaeological Assets and carried out by Metro C under the Operative Scientific Directorate of excavations of the Archaeological Superintendency, made it possible not only to identify numerous finds, but also to update the archaeological maps in areas that have never been surveyed.
Along its route, Line C interacts with highly prized historic buildings and monuments; to guarantee they are unharmed, Metro C S.c.p.A. performed a series of preventive activities aimed at precisely and reliably defining the state of conservation of historic buildings and monuments.
